Heartbroken friends have paid tribute to Charmaine, who has been remembered for her love of rapping and Nikki Minaj, the Daily Record reports.

One close friend said: “Honestly wish someone was able to wake me up and tell me it’s all just a dream, this is horrible.. my heart hurts so f*g bad.

“Never ever thought I’d ever have to say goodbye to you Mainey, my oldest and dearest pal what’s life gonna be like without your daftness.

“You where my OG, you’ll always be my OG. I’m lucky to have grown up with you Mainey, I’ll cherish every last memory I have until the day we meet again my angel, keep on rapping up there mini Minaj.

“I love you forever and always my Mainey. Even though you’re gone, we still a team.”

Another devastated pal added: “Barely slept all night can’t stop thinking about my beautiful girl.

“I’ll forever miss that beautiful smile of yours, you were too pure for this cruel world, rip Charmaine.”

A crowdfunding page has been launched to raise money for Charmaine’s family and a memorial has been planned for next week.

A post on the Just Giving page read: “Charmaine tragically lost her life, and I’ve made this for anyone who would like to put a wee something if you want… just because its Charmaine and she would’ve done the same for anyone.. absolute legend of a lassy, who’ll be sadly missed by loads, loved by so many too!”

Pals have planned a memorial for Charmaine, known by friends as “Mainey”, next week so mates can meet up and share stories.

A balloon release will also take place at the memorial on Thursday.
